The Knott County Senior Citizens Center has been providing services to persons 60 years of age or older since 1999. It is our goal to identify and target persons in greatest economic and social need, older minority persons, rural elderly, frail elderly, the disabled and the caregivers of older persons with Alzheimer's or related disorders and inform such individuals of the availability of services through the program.
The Senior Center provides hot meals to any person age 60 or older. Everyone is welcome to come to the center for lunch. Home-delivered meals are provided for any person who is physically unable to attend the center. Any person who wishes to receive home-delivered meals should contact the Senior Center Director, Eva Huff at 785-4095 for more information.
The Center offers a variety of daily activities, including:
- Bingo
- Billiards
- Quilting
- Checkers
- Watching Television
- Exercise Classes
- Every Wednesday the Senior Center travels to the Knott County Sportsplex for bowling and exercise. This service is free to all seniors who attend the center!
The Center has a big screen television plus a well equipped exercise room. We also occasionally plan cake walks and trips to local attractions. We are also fortunate to have Pickers & Grinners frequently perform for us at our celebrations.

Any individual age 60 or older, or the spouse of a person age 60 or older who has a physical or medical condition that prohibits them from being transported to the Senior Center qualifies for home delivered meals. Short term home delivered meals may be considered for individuals who are temporarily incapacitated due to illness providing there is no other person available to provide assistance to them. All applications for home delivered meals are to be reviewed by the Program Director and approved or denied with a written notification to the individual. Applications are maintained in an accessible file at the Senior Center for future evaluations if necessary.
